National Museum of Contemporary Art of Chiado (MNAC)
Location: Lisboa, Portugal
Description
Housed in a former convent in the heart of Chiado, MNAC traces Portuguese art from 1850 to today through paintings, sculptures, drawings and video works — from Romanticism to modern and conceptual art. The compact, manageable size makes it a good first 'real' art museum for school-age kids, and the fully indoor, wheelchair-accessible galleries (so stroller-friendly) work well on a rainy Lisbon day. Open Tuesday to Sunday 10:00-18:00, and easy to pair with the nearby Chiado cafes and the Santa Justa Lift.
