Lisbon Cathedral (Sé de Lisboa)
Location: Lisboa, Portugal
Description
Lisbon Cathedral (Sé de Lisboa) is the city's oldest church, standing in the Alfama district since 1147, with fortress-like towers and a rose window kids love to spot from the square below. Inside, children can explore the vast Romanesque naves, climb to the upper choir and balcony for views over the church, and see centuries-old religious treasures in the Tesouro museum. A visit is short and easy to combine with a ride on the famous Tram 28, which rattles right past the front door. Note there are steps to the upper levels, so it is easier with kids who can walk on their own; closed on Sundays.
