Description

The Rua Augusta Arch is Lisbon's triumphal arch, built to celebrate the city's reconstruction after the 1755 earthquake. An elevator carries you most of the way up, followed by a short spiral staircase to the rooftop terrace, where kids can spot the Tagus river, Praça do Comércio and the castle from a 360° viewpoint, with a small clock-room exhibit on the way. A quick, rewarding stop of around 30-45 minutes that pairs well with a wander around the Baixa. Best for children old enough to manage the final stairs — strollers cannot reach the top.
